Adult Cat In The Hat Thing 2 Halloween Costume

Jovi Elf Deluxe Adult

This deluxe costume includes a pink velvet dress with red accents & white trim, matching cone elf hat, a red belt with gold color buckle, and red shoe covers. Tights and shoes not included. This is an officially licensed Elf? costume.
Customer Review: Cheap
Cheap -- that's how the costume looks, and how you'll look wearing it! The dress fabric is not velvet, but pink felt with a sheen. The underskirt is made of paper. The hat and the dress are two different fabrics in very different shades of pink. The shoe covers are completely unusable. The costume is advertised to fit size 8-12. I'm 5'4" and a size 8. The costume was very tight and barely covered my backside. I had to wear a petticoat underneath to make sure I wouldn't be arrested for indecent exposure during the neighborhood Christmas parade! The seams split when I threw candy to the kids. Overall, this costume is designed to fit very petite women, with a quality level you'd expect from a $25 costume.
Customer Review: NOT one size fits all
I ordered this product and received it very quickly--it came in less than a week. The material is fine, but I am a size 4 or 6, and the skirt and sleeves are both extremely short. The waist is definitely large enough, and in fact the belt is HUGE, but the whole piece is a bit uncomfortable because of the arms and skirt. I am going to take the costume to the tailor's and see what he can do because the Elf costume looks great on my husband and we're headed to a party together, but I probably would not have bought this costume if I could have tried it on first.

Deluxe Muscle Chest SupermanTM Adult DC Comic Superhero Super Hero Costume

He's the man of steel! Costume features a full muscle chest jumpsuit with attached boot tops, Superman logo on chest and a molded belt. Superman's cape is also includes. A great Halloween costume!
Customer Review: Looking For A Superman Costume? This Is The One For You!
Initially I thought the price of this costume was a little steep, although I have received it and then worn it last Halloween I changed my mind. The quality of the material of the costume is not great, but again it's supposed to be pretty thin because what makes this costume fun to look at and wear are the tights. What makes this costume really stand out is the vibrant colors. The red is really red, and the blue is truly blue. None of the colors of this costume look washed out at all, unlike other Superman costume that I have seen that are cheaper in price. People also liked the fact that it came with a cape and that overall it really portrayed the Superman look. The muscle section of the costume can get hot to wear for extended times since it is made of rubber, but its only one day a year so its totally worth it.

Trick or Treat is a Halloween custom. It is the quote shouted by children who call on houses to get gifts at Halloween. In North America, England and Ireland, kids go round to people's houses on Halloween night which falls on October 31st, dressed in some kind of scary costumes, and challenge the inhabitants of the homes with the cry, Trick or Treat? The houseowner then chooses between a trick - where the kids play some prank or practical joke on them - or treat where the houseowner treats the children with sweets or candy or similar Halloween treat stuff. The houseowners usually stock up on Halloween treats before hand. With increased Tv penetration and exposure, the Halloween customs have spread across other parts of Europe and Asia too. In some places, the night associated with trick or treat is also known as beggars night.

The practice of dressing up in costumes and going from one door to other asking for treats on Halloween goes back to many years. Trick-or-treating is similar to the medieval practice of souling, when poor people would go from door to door, receiving food to eat in return for prayers for the dead on All Souls Day. This tradition originated in Ireland and England and the poor people were called soulers.

Trick or Treat is one of the great adventures of Halloween for little kids. Many towns have separate harvest festivals so that kids can trick or treat in safety and security. 'Trick or treat, smell my feet. Give me something good to eat' is another popular line used by kids around Halloween.

If you've started thinking about Halloween and unique but low cost costume ideas then you might want to read this article for more ideas. You can create two costumes - Halloween Kung Fu Panda costumes and Skeleton Halloween costumes by yourself.

Kung Fu Panda was a recent Dreamworks animation and it has achieved a tremendous reception in North America this summer. The film used both hand drawn and computer generated information and was in production for four years. In the film Kung Fu Panda is trying to transform his life from being a lazy slob to a master of Kung Fu. Jack Black plays the voice of Po and Angelina Jolie plays the voice of master tigress.

Recent news has it that in what might be a first time occurrence in the film industry Paramount Pictures are accompanying the DVD release of Kung Fu Panda on the 9th of November with a direct to video sequel. This is the first time that a sequel has been released on the same day as the original.

Halloween will soon be here and it's a good idea to do some planning in advance, especially if you have kids. If you are keen to maintain an in the know and up to the minute party image then a Kung Fu Panda costume seems like a great idea - you're sure to get a lot of laughs as Po the Kung Fu Panda. Kids especially love to be up to the minute in their party costumes and with the movie and the sequel still high on the news agenda. Kung Fu Panda costume should go down really well with younger members of the family.

You need some black pants and a black sweater with the main part of the chest painted in white. You should be able to find a panda mask to complete the outfit. You would probably need to pad the costume out as Kung Fu Panda is a bit on the chubby side. If you can't buy a panda mask then make one of your own from a piece of painted card.

An all time favorite Halloween costume for both youngsters and adults is that of a skeleton. This particular costume can be really cheap and easy to put together. All you need is a black sweater and tights along with some fabric paint and perhaps a scary skeleton mask. If you don't have any old black sweaters and tights to spare then it's possible to get them from a thrift clothing store for just a few dollars. Kids love to think that they look really scary at this time of year, which is probably why a skeleton costume has such huge appeal.

Whether you are making cheap Halloween costumes or looking for some other cheap costume ideas, the first place to start looking is at home. You probably have some old clothes and perhaps some face paints tucked away that could be very useful when making costumes.

I do not know which kind of costumes you are going to wear. But if you want to buy Kung Fu Panda costumes, I have an idea for you. You may find lots of choices on Halloween Kung Fu Panda Costumes 2008.

Clone Trooper Leader Rex Child Costume

Includes: Printed jumpsuit, belt and mask. Toy weapon not included. This is an officially licensed Star Wars costume.
Customer Review: Helmet is a nose-smasher
The costume is cute but the product photo is misleading and the helmet just doesn't work at all. The eye slot is too high relative to the nose air holes, but worst of all, the helmet is flat-fronted so the poor kid's nose has to be smashed the whole time! It probably could be jerry-rigged to work if you put pads at the place where the kids cheeks are so as to push out the helmet, but since the eye slot is too high anyway, it's not worth it. In order to see, the helmet has to be pushed down, so the kid's hair is clearly seen, which was not what the photo leads you to imagine. Finally, size 8-10 is right for a 7-8-year-old.

Although there really is nothing to fear about bats, and they don't really attack people to drink their blood nor are they blind, it's fun to let your imagination run wild, especially around Halloween. The days are growing shorter, the air is crisp, and the leaves are dying-the perfect conditions to let your kids go batty. This year, forget the ghosts and witches and take a cue from Edgar Allan Poe and plan your Halloween party around these scary black mammals. Find everything you need for a "horror-ble" party that will drive your guests batty, from invitations, to crafts, to games.

Invitations

  • Use a white paint pen to write party details on black bat-shaped cut-outs. Glue onto orange craft paper and send out to guests.
  • Decorations
  • Set the mood for your party by hanging inverted bats made out of black construction paper from trees or the entrance to your house
  • Trim the front door with bat decals or cut-outs. Add a banner with a scary saying.
  • Carve bat shapes into pumpkins and display on the front porch and inside the house. For an extra ghoulish effect, light candles and place inside the pumpkins.
  • Using black and orange ribbon, hang bat shapes from the ceiling along with black and orange balloons.
  • Make a bat banner out of construction paper
  • For your a table center decoration paint a large, bare tree branch black and attaching black construction paper or plastic bats to it.
  • Spread bat-shaped confetti on tabletops and counters.

Bat Hunt Game

Hide some toy bats or construction paper bats around the house inside or outside before guest arrive. Give each guest a paper bag and a flashlight and turn off the lights or go outside. Have guests search for the hidden bats. The person who finds the most bats is the winner. Give a small prize to the winner if desired. (Variation: You could have one special bat for guests to find, and the person who finds that bat gets a prize too.)

Owl and Bats Game

You will need either some plastic or rubber bats. There should be one less bat than the number of players. For example, if you have 6 players, use 5 bats. Before the game, color or paint a spot on the bottom of each bat. Have children sit in a circle. Put the bats, marks facing down, on the floor in the middle of the circle. Have children choose one bat. The child without the bat is the "owl." Have the "owl" sit in the middle of the circle. The "owl" points to one child and tries to guess the color of the spot on that child's bat. If the "owl" guesses the correct color, the child with the bat runs around the circle and the "owl" tries to catch him/her before he/she sits down at his/her spot again. If the "owl" catches the child with the bat, he/she will be a bat again. If not, the "bat" takes a turn to be the "owl."

Party Favors

Visit your local party store or discount store, looking for inexpensive bat-related novelties such as key chains, plastic toys, jewelry, etc.

Bat Cookie Decorating Activity/Snack

Let children decorate their own bat-shaped sugar cookies. Set up a table with paper plates, plastic knives, napkins along with sugar cookies cut in bat shapes, different colors of frosting, sprinkles, candy corn, etc.

Snacks/Drinks

  • Ice cupcakes with black and add bat-shaped edible decorations.
  • Use bat-shaped cookie cutters to make bat sandwiches or pancakes. Using a bat shaped cookie cutter, cut flour tortillas into bat shapes. Lightly brush both sides of each bat shape with oil. Place tortilla shapes on cookie cutter and place in oven. Broil tortilla shapes, flipping chips once when they begin to brown. When brown on both sides, sprinkle lightly with salt or a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.
  • Bat grog: Combine 2 cups grape juice, 2 cups lemon-lime soda, lime sherbet, and lemon sherbet. Chill.

Pretty soon the little ghosts will be arriving on your doorstep. That means it's time to get all those Halloween Crafts started too. Decorating pumpkins for Halloween is a longtime tradition. However, recent years have brought about some exciting changes to the tradition. Folks are becoming much more creative and putting an artistic touch to their designs. Instead of just the traditional carving of a pumpkin, now people are painting pumpkins.

I want to share with you some ideas and how to information for painting jack o lantern stencils onto a pumpkin. Decorating your pumpkin with paint is much less messy and safer when getting the kids involved. Not to mention that you can be a lot more creative with paint and using a Halloween stencil makes the job much easier.

Don't just limit these instructions to the pumpkins you pick up at the farmer's market either. I use this technique on gourds, too. Also, I found some plastic pumpkins at my local craft and decorating supply house. These are great because I can pack them away and they'll be good for next year.

There are many printable Halloween stencils available on the web. But first, match your pumpkin and your stencil design. If you already have a pumpkin that is tall and thin, find a pattern that will fill in the height and not curve too far around the sides. If you have chosen a pattern that is short and wide, look for a pumpkin that is squat and round. You want your image to be clearly visible from one direction. Also, try to find a pumpkin that has a smooth side for your pattern to fit snugly against. This will make it easier to transfer your pattern.

If the Halloween stencil is not the right size for your pumpkin, you can always reduce or enlarge the image on a copy machine. Just hold the design in front of the pumpkin and eye it in. It's best not to have a design that rolls too far over the top or bottom of your pumpkin. Remember, you want to see the entire design from one direction.

OK! You've got your pattern and it's the right size. Now, you'll have to cut your pattern so that you can apply paint. Using a craft-knife cut out the openings on the stencil. Make sure your blade is sharp at all times. Dull blades may cause the paper stencil to tear. The goal is to cut along each line only once with a firm, smooth motion. With your free hand, hold the stencil firmly and rotate the stencil so that you are always cutting with your arm and wrist at a comfortable angle. When cutting past a thin bridge area carefully use a finger to hold down the paper.

Now it's time to tape the stencil to the pumpkin and apply paint. That's much easier said than done because you have a flat square page that needs to be secured to a round object. Here's what I do. Line up your stencil so that the center of the design is even with the center of the pumpkin and put tape on each side. Then if you can, place another piece of tape at the top and the bottom. As you apply paint, you will need to use a finger to pull down the corners so that it flattens against the pumpkin.

Pour paint onto your palette (a paper plate can be used). Dip your brush in the paint and work into the bristles by gently rotating to make sure all sides are loaded with color. Then dab the brush several times on a paper towel or piece of paper to get out any excess paint. It's important to have a brush that is on the dry side because it will keep paint from seeping under the stencil and smearing or running. This will most likely happen to some degree anyway so be prepared to do some touching up.

More color is achieved by repeated coverage, not by using more paint. When your brush is properly loaded, an even powdering of paint is left when blotted on a paper towel or paper. Apply the paint using a downward, or dabbing, motion over the edges of the stencil openings so as not to push paint under the stencil. If you use a back and forth brushing motion, the brush will push paint under the stencil and cause smearing. Another reason you do not want to use a brushing or back and forth stroke is because it may tend to curl or bend your paper stencil. Apply paint with this dabbing and blotting motion in all the cut out areas of your stencil.

It's best to wait a couple of minutes before removing the stencil once you've finished painting. The idea is to be able to get the paper away from the surface without smudging the paint. So, if you let the paint dry just a little it will be less likely to smear. On the other hand, if the stencil remains in place for the paint to thoroughly dry, some of the paper along the edges will stick to the pumpkin. When removing the stencil, hold down on one side and roll it away. This is the best way to keep the stencil from dragging across any wet paint.

Touch up any jagged lines with a thin paint brush. You will most likely also need to fill in the crevice areas of the pumpkin that didn't receive paint. For paint in areas where it shouldn't be, you can use a wet cloth or paper towel to wipe it away.

Wait! Don't put away the paint brush and paints. This is the part where you can get very creative. Since you are working with paint, there is no reason you can't do a second color or even a few colors. Here are a few tips and hints to make your pumpkins really stand out.

Once you have completed a layer of black paint on your stencil, reattach the stencil just above the black areas and repaint with yellow. This creates a shadow effect.

But don't be shy with the colors. Using reds, blues and greens can make your faces or scenes really stand out. You have the stencil to guide you in getting an image onto your pumpkin so now stretch your creativity and make it unique.

There are so many ways to have fun with Halloween crafts and Halloween stencils! I often think that making the decorations is the best part of any occasion and Halloween is no exception. I hope you get the most of the projects found on this page and create some funky or scary art. Happy Stenciling!

Adult Magic Hat Rabbit Halloween Costume

The main eye catcher of the night was my napkin rings which I specifically made for the event. Specifically at a formal Christmas dinner party, the individuality, class and style of the table setting and food preparation leaves an impression on your guests, so a nice representation of table setting is a great way to leave a positive impression on guests. A colour scheme, table cloth, card placements, table mats, napkins, plates and cutlery are the main characteristics of any table dinner. An expense that can seem high for this time of year due to the need to buy gifts and other necessities on the run up to Christmas.

They took me no longer than three quarters of an hour to make 14 of them. However, on some occasions it's all about appearance, appearance, appearance! I recently hosted a dinner party for a group of friends and I stunned my guests with the things that I had made personally and things that were so easy to make. As with many things, you can reduce this cost by creating minor things at home that can help towards the needs of the event. Nevertheless, these things come at an expense. At Christmas we get a chance to shine and explore with the colours and the presentation of a cooked meal. Christmas dinner is all about the taste and range of food on offer.

Tools
Glue gun (recommended) or PVA glue
Scissors Shower curtain rings, the colour of your choice - I recommend them to be the same colour as your chosen colour scheme (as many as necessary for the number of guests) Satin ribbon, the colour of your choice
Green artificial leaves
Artificial leaves, the colour of your choice

Preparation
Step 1: Take a shower curtain ring and place on your work surface.
Step 2: Arrange the leaves and ribbon onto the curtain ring until you are satisfied with the arrangement.
Step 3: When you are completely satisfied, take your glue and glue each piece into place ensuring to hold the pieces in place until they are secure.
Step 4: Leave to dry.
Step 5: Repeat the steps for each napkin ring you desire.

And there you have it. As simple as one, two, three, four, five. A perfect and simple way to make your Christmas dinner look stylish and leave a positive impact on your guests. This process can be re-enacted to make napkin rings for any occasion simply by changing the decorative tools used for the design.

Fourth of July, celebrations, fun, good food, and the very sweet icing on the cake, firework shows. I grew up in a town that was full of patriotic spirit. The fourth of July was definitely not just another day. The town was transformed, and everyone came out to play.

The festivities started at the park in the center of town. Game booths were scattered amongst the smells of barbecued kabobs, tri tip sandwiches, corn on the cob, and cotton candy. The park was a sea of people dressed in red white and blue and waving the all important flag with a vigor that seemed to only occur on that one day of the year. From the distance, a piccolo chimes and the band starts marching in. This is not your ordinary band, but one full of my family members. My dad is the director, and my older brothers and sister have played in it for as long as I can remember. I was the little kid walking beside the band, waving my flag with as much pride as I could muster and cheering until I couldn't cheer any more. The band marched to the bandstand, and then the concert began. One Sousa march after another, and every patriotic masterpiece that you can't go the day without hearing at least once were played and directed with pride. This was just the beginning of the day, and already packed with more 4th of July tradition and spirit than some towns see in a lifetime. On to the stadium!!

The anticipation of seeing the fireworks show was half the fun. The evening in the stadium started with a picnic of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Then the band played again just in time for the fly-over. The low rumble of the stadium and the complete disappearance of every other sound gave a sense of pride like no other. This is where we live, and yes we are being protected. Then the music started again, and in come the skydivers. This only meant one thing; the fireworks are coming soon, very soon. We always got front row seats on the field, a spot always reserved for the 4th of July Band. The fireworks were so close I felt I could touch them. The sun started to go down and the anticipation grew as music played in the background. We waited for the countdown to begin. The lights go off, and the firework show began! All choreographed to music, the story started, and the display was always more fantastic than the year before. Even as a kid, it brought tears to my eyes. How at that very moment could you not feel proud to live in the good old US of A? This is where my love of firework shows comes from. There will never be a better fireworks show than the one in Redlands. It will always hold a special place in my heart for its fabulous 4th of July celebration and the icing on the cake, the glorious fireworks show!

Mske Sure you visit Redlands, CA if you want to see a beautiful firework show. It is in the stadium at the beautiful campus of University of Redlands. Get there early and sit on the grass for an awesome experience. Bring your family, a blanket, and a picnic, and a lot of spirit. I assure you that you will have a great time.

Because of my love of firework shows, I have started a website to make sure everyone can have that same sense of wonder and pride when they see a fireworks show on the 4th of July. My website is http://www.usfireworkshows.com Please check it out and shoot me an e-mail if you know of any firework shows that I have yet to list. Have a wonderful 4th of July!!

A unique concoction of the traditional and the offbeat, modern Christmas ornaments add shine and shimmer to the festive dcor. It is believed that most of what now passes to be an inevitable part of the American tradition has its origin in Central Europe. Although Christmas trees first appeared in America in the 1700s, the emergence of the modern Christmas tree, dates back to 15th and 16th century Germany. German mercenaries, called Hessians, who fought valiantly in the Revolutionary War, consequently brought with them the tradition of decorated trees. Christmas ornaments in fact came in vogue as late as 1880 when F.W. Woolworth of five-and-dime fame unwillingly stocked his store with ornaments manufactured by the Germans.

The village of Lauscha in Germany first manufactured the glass ornaments in 1800. There was division of labor as far as the creation of glass ornaments was concerned. Men were engaged in glass blowing, while women were involved in silvering and children in giving the finishing touch by adding a coat of color to it. Until 1925, virtually all glass ornaments were being manufactured there. By 1935, more than 250 million Christmas ornaments were being imported to United States. Thus the Christmas trees which were earlier decorated with edibles, were later replaced by radiant glass ornaments. However, the first record of Christmas tree balls saw its genesis as early as 1848 while pine cones were among the first few designs created by the artisans. The ideal situation underwent a drastic change with the disruption of this cottage industry, post World War II. In fact the separation of Germany paved way for Japan and Czechoslovakia to capture the North American market.

At present, the European glass reflector ornaments, executed with dexterity and ingenuity at the same time drawing upon the tradition of hand made craft work, are prevalent. They are inclusive of traditional images of Christmas, such as nutcrackers and Santa blown glass models, which are a customary part of Christmas ornaments, meant to be hung on trees. Next in primacy stands the birds, which are also considered to be among the most common figural tree ornament. They are regarded as biblical messengers that bring God's love and peace to the world. Birds are also symbolic of good luck and good fortune. One of the very first tree ornaments, walnuts were believed to be "the nut of the Gods" by the ancient Romans.

Different symbols have different connotations, some have religious significance, while some are simply signs of good luck or associated with charming stories from the glassmaker's past or better still, deeply rooted in German folklore. Fish and rose are ancient Christian symbols of Christ. Pickle ornament is regarded to be the German symbol of love. Baskets replete with fruits are symbolic of Christmas giving and were once frequently given by churches to the poor. A bunch of grape is the most common fruit glass ornaments, perhaps due to its religious significance. Fruits and vegetables are in fact thought to be symbolic of bountiful harvest. Musical instruments, especially horns, are prevalent since they are the harbingers of Christmas and were blown to welcome Christ into the world. Icicles have an old superstition associated with them. It is believed that one can forecast the depth of winter's snows by measuring the length of icicles between Christmas and New Year's Day. Stars metaphorically represent the star of Bethlehem. Red and white capped mushroom stem, and the chimney sweep ornaments are all varied forms of good luck charm. In the Victorian era, reflectors, referred to as "witches eyes" were placed on the Christmas tree to ward off evil present in the home during the holiday season.

Some symbols are believed to have political association too. The St. Charles Spaniel was an early blown glass ornament perhaps because it was the most popular pet of the Victorian era and a favorite with Queen Victoria. The teddy bear ornament is representative of the pompous, plush toy bear conceptualized by Margerette Steiff in 1903 and named after President Teddy Roosevelt. The dog in the potato sack ornament has the inscription "my darling", the trademark of Witman Company as it was originally molded by this company and "My Darling" was the love name for a family doll.

The latest fad for finished Keepsake ornaments in a wide array of material has become the craze of the day. In 1973, Hallmark heralded this new tradition of Christmas decoration and gave birth to a new collectible industry through its production of six ball ornaments and twelve yarn figures. Now a host of ornament industries have made a beeline to woo the customers, through their wide range of keepsake ornaments.

While purchasing, people want their Christmas ornaments to be unique, an eye-candy to earn the attention of their guests. Hence, great care is taken both by the artisans, who display their finesse through their craftsmanship, as well as by the buyer who wants to shell out their money only in exchange for something worthwhile.

When it comes time to go shopping for your child's Halloween costume, you have no reason to worry about getting ideas. Kids tend to be quite vocal about what costumes they want to wear on Halloween night, but if you are like most parents, you will want to keep control over costume choices.

If you explain you ground rules to your children before Halloween time rolls around, you will be better able to reach a decision about the costume that all parties involved will be satisfied with.

Before you even start to look at costumes, you need to establish a hard and fast budget for costume spending. This is because, even though it might be the perfect costume, spending an exorbitant amount of money on an outfit that is only going to be worn a few short days at most does not make a lot of financial sense. After you decide how much you are willing to spend, offer your children lots of options, bearing in mind that you might have to steer them clear of costumes that are not appropriate for their age. Try to make the entire costume selection process as fun as possible.

There are also safety concerns to be considered depending on how old your children are. Think about whether or not a costume could cause a child to trip and fall while walking or perhaps even suffocate them. Consider the weight of the costume and whether or not it will be too hot to wear. Especially with girls, it is important to think about whether or not your child will be too exposed in their costume. This often occurs because costume manufacturers aim their designs at adult audiences. Think seriously about how your daughter will look. While you and your child might be fine with some, others might make you uncomfortable.

One option that often works out quite well is shopping for Halloween costumes on the Internet. You can start looking at costumes online much earlier than when they arrive in local shops. The selection and availability of costumes is also better online. It is not too difficult to find an online costume shop with low prices, creative designs, a large range of sizes, and fast shipping.

Since local costume shops and department stores limit their stock of costumes to what is particularly popular during the season, they do not have as many creative costumes to choose from. Online costume retailers, on the other hand, do not choose their stock in the same manner.

While looking around a local department store you might find little more than costumes of princesses, pirates, and wizards, online shopping yields a host of costumes for kids. Some easy to find examples include a shark, a gumball machine, a cell phone, the Statue of Liberty, characters from The Wizard of Oz, and colonial outfits. By spending a little bit of time on your costume search, you can find a fun and unique costume.

Start the costume shopping early and take the time you need to find the perfect costume for your children this Halloween.

Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi) is a traditional Indian festival in which sisters tie a sacred thread of protection around their brother's wrists. By accepting a thread from his sister, the brother is bound to protect his sister from harm.

The sanctity of the thread that the sister ties to a brother's hand makes the relationship glow with noble thoughts and blessings of love, devotion and duty of the brother towards his sister.

People in India celebrate this festival on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana. The frail rakhi thread is considered stronger than iron chains in India as it binds brothers and sisters in a bond of everlasting trust and love. Sisters apply 'tikka' on their brothers' foreheads and brothers reciprocate by giving them gifts and tokens of cash.

In turn, sisters buy gifts and sweets for their brothers. The meaning of this festival has expanded, so those who do not have brothers tie rakhis to others and initiate a new brother-sister relationship that usually continues for a lifetime.

This festival also has an important social significance, because it underlines the notion that every one in society should live in harmonious coexistence with each other as brothers and sisters in society. The best way forward towards attaining this social goal is to initiate a lifetime bond that makes men and women, young and old alike with pious feelings towards each other.

The aim of Rakhi is to achieve a harmonious coexistence for everyone and removal of social strains. Simultaneously, it strives to cultivate noble thoughts in society and imbibe feelings of brotherly as well as sisterly love for members of society.

The festival is rooted deeply in the psyche of every Indian since the past. Legend says that Rajput and Maratha queens have send rakhis even to Mughal kings who despite their personal differences, rose to protect them from harm.

Another story has it that Lord Indra - the ruler of the heavenly realm, was almost on the verge of losing a long drawn battle against the demons. Indira's wife came forward to help her husband and tied a talisman on his wrist. This helped Lord Indira win the war against the demons.

Yet another legend has it that Lord Yama, the God of death had a sister Yamuna. On every "Shravan Purnima", she would tie a rakhi on her brother's wrist. Since then it became customary for sisters to tie a rakhi on their brother's wrist.

There are a lot of rakhis available in the market encompassing both traditional and modern themes. These include thread rakhis, moti (pearl) rakhis, silver rakhis, silver coin rakhis and more. There are rakhis even for children such as chocolate rakhis, Superman, Batman, Pokemon, Krish, Mikey mouse rakhis, and so on.

On this day, brothers and sisters send cards and gifts to each other. Traditional gifts mark the occasion. These gifts include rakhi baskets with ethnic stuff, fashion jewellery, gift hampers, ethnic dresses like sarees, kurtis, Punjabi suits, dresses and dress material, traditional puja thalis, Indian Sweets like Kaju Katli, barfi, pendas, boondi laddoos and such, dry fruits such as cashew nuts, raisins, almonds, pistachios, and such.

Other gifts include apparels, watches, perfumes, etc other due to the influence of the present day modern culture. On this occasion, brothers also give a token of money as appreciation for their sisters. Sisters also purchase return gifts for their brothers, which includes men's items such as perfumes, kerchiefs, sunglasses, watches, mobiles, shirts, trousers, wallets, belts, apparels, electronic items, and such.

Christmas is such a joyous time of the year full of laughter, love, and plenty of good cheer, but it's also a time for plenty of decorating, both inside and outside the home. Many people feel stressed out and unable to truly enjoy the season with all of the things that need to be done, the shopping, the baking, cleaning, the parties, and of course, decorating the house, and even dread the upcoming Christmas holiday.

Instead of allowing yourself to feel frazzled and out of sorts, here are a few simple ideas to consider that will help make your Christmas decorating a breeze:

Christmas Bows, Bows and More Bows

You can never go wrong with bows and ribbons at Christmas time. Make your own or buy them in packs and be generous in your placement of them. Add bows to the corners of windows and the mantle, on the draperies, the backs of chairs, on candlesticks, on basket handles, the stair railings, within garland, and of course, on the Christmas tree. If you are making your own, choose a ribbon that you can easily open after making your bows so that you can untie and store them flat until next year.

Choosing a Christmas Decoration Color Scheme

Choosing the perfect color scheme for your Christmas decorations is one of the best parts of the entire holiday decorating process. Some people choose to follow one specific theme to unify all of their decorations, while others settle on certain colors to use.

For a truly nostalgic feel, use colors you remember from your childhood Christmases. Perhaps your house was always decorated in silver and blue, or maybe there's a certain special memory you could draw upon to find the perfect colors for your holiday decorating. If you loved candy canes as a child, decorate in all white and red, or maybe you have a favorite quilt or piece of fabric you can use for inspiration.

Just about any type of colors work well for Christmas and if you're hard pressed for ideas, follow the existing theme of your home's color scheme and add a complementary color or two to bring the holiday feeling alive.

Less is More

If you think you need to spend a fortune decorating the inside of your house for Christmas, think again as sometimes less is definitely more. Having a space filled with all different types of decorations and colors is often overwhelming and tends to look cluttered.

Besides the Christmas tree, choose one another focal point in the room, or an adjacent room, to spruce up for the holidays. Add candles to the windows or on the mantle, and instead of adding more decorations to the walls, cover your pictures with pretty wrapping paper that matches your color scheme.

For the outside, place a wreath on your front door along with a festive welcome mat and a few strands of lights strung across the porch, around the front windows, or along the railings. To save money, make or buy an artificial wreath that you can reuse year after year, adding a few extra embellishments to change it's overall look.

Christmas Shopping at Home

You may be pleasantly surprised at what you'll find stored away and long forgotten in the attic or basement, or simply just lying around the house. Once you've settled on a specific color theme of two or three colors to use for decorating, take a trip around the house, from top to bottom, and "borrow" whatever you can find to use to decorate for Christmas. A grouping of candles, special placemats and tablecloths, and figurines or knickknacks can all add to your holiday dcor.

You will be welcome at the christmastreesus.com web site to search for your outdoor Christmas lights, real and fake trees, and many other Christmas decor items for your perfect holiday season display.

If we look at the history of Halloween costumes, we will find that this custom is followed by people for over 2000 years. In ancient days, the Celts dressed in crude costumes to celebrate the Celtic festival 'Samhain". That's why still some Christians rebuff to celebrate Halloween as it has pagan origin. Samhain was celebrated by Celts to mark the end of a year and it also symbolized the final harvest period. Since, Samhain suggested the end of a harvesting period it was associated with human death. They also believed that during the night of October 31st, the ghosts returned to earth to cause trouble to the human kind. So, they burnt animals and crops in a bonfire as a sacrifice to their gods while donning scary costumes made from animal skin and heads.

When European immigrants entered America during 1800s, they surged Halloween into the American tradition. Also, during this period many Americans tried to alter the pagan theme of this holiday tradition into a more friendly festival and celebrated it with appropriate Halloween costumes. They organized get-togethers and emphasized the community to celebrate them in a kid-friendly way than with a theme of witchcraft and ghosts.

However, the change evolved only during 1950s and people started celebrating Halloween as a children's holiday. But, the children dressed up in scary costumes as they are influenced by movies like Dracula and The Wizard of Oz. They walked to each house yelling 'trick or treat' and the pagan's connection with this holiday festival ended during this period. Halloween costumes become a booming industry during the year 2000 and also it has developed into America's second largest holiday.

Over the years, Halloween culture was embraced by everyone and celebrated everywhere. The modern day people started celebrating it as street parties and also in pubs, clubs and discos thus making it a grand gala celebration. Halloween props and other accessories are now worth the investment. It is a good idea to share the cost of these costumes among friends as most Halloween props available in the market can be stored easily and hence can be reused year after year.

The amusing and freakier Halloween costumes are generally in great demand before the month of Halloween and people throng to buy the Halloween masks and props to charm others. While men prefer scary Halloween costumes, women try to charm others with their coquettish and feminine Halloween costumes. Just let your mind's eye guide you in buying your funkier Halloween costume and enjoy the holiday with fun!

In the mad frenzy of dressing up, decorating the house, throwing a party, the reason why do we celebrate Halloween has somehow got pushed to the background. Costumes and candy, tricks and treats, terrifying decorations take up all our energy and perhaps, most of us do not even know what Halloween actually signifies.

Halloween goes back nearly 2000 years when it first began to be celebrated by the Celts who had their homes in Ireland, UK and the northern parts of France. The Celts celebrated their New Year on the first of November and the origins of Halloween go back to this time in the Celtic festival of Samhain. Samhain was celebrated the night before the New Year.

The Celts believed that the New Year marked the end of the summer. The end of summer was significant to the Celts because they were pastoral people as opposed to agricultural people; and the end of summer meant a radically different style of life in the winter months.

Cattle were brought down from the hills and people got together in houses for long winter nights of handicrafts and telling of stories. These dark, winter months were associated with death by the Celts. On October 31st, Samhain was celebrated by the Celts and they believed that this was the day when the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. This happened because of the blurring of the boundaries between the living world and the deceased.

The 'trick or treat' probably originated in the English All Souls' Day parades when the poor would plead for food from the wealthier people. The wealthy families gave them pastries called 'soul cakes' and asked the poor to pray for their relatives who were no longer living. This morphed into people giving candies to children who came to their house dressed up as witches or ghosts and if someone refused to give candy (treat), a practical joke (trick) would probably be played upon him. Another theory is of people leaving food outside their homes so that the wandering ghosts would not enter their homes.

The Celts felt winter to be a frightening time and chances of running short of food were always there and herein lies another reason for celebrating Halloween by dressing up. It can be traced back to the Celtic tradition of covering themselves in masks and costumes so that the wandering ghosts would not recognize them if the Celts happened to be out of their homes in search of food.

The Celts carved faces on potatoes in Ireland but when they migrated to America, they found pumpkins to be more plentiful and hence, the system of carved pumpkins took shape. In America, Halloween is the second biggest commercial holiday and people have made a religion of dressing up in scary costumes and decorating their homes to make it look haunted. All the real 'eeriness' of the festival has actually got removed to be replaced by a sense of community spirit and the scariness is done out of fun and not actual fear.

Chill.

Colorful, delightful, and furry. My granddaughter was so happy to get it that she wants to wear it almost every time that she comes for a visit. It was purchased to wear in a Noah's Ark Parade and it may be used for Halloween also. I was concerned about the size when I ordered it, but it is made in such a way that it spans the sizes from 2T to 4T very well.

Adult's Muscle Chest Batman Halloween Costume

Customer Review: Good costume
This costume with the muscle chest is great for the money. I chose to purchase a better mask and a pair of gloves because I plan to wear this for a few years. The only thing I didnt like is the ears on the mask, they are kind of floppy.A similar costume without the muscle chest looks more like adult pajamas.
